More than 2,100 attendees flocked to Haas Automation’s Oxnard, California headquarters and manufacturing facility for the machine tool builder’s HaasTec open house. The three-day event drew visitors from around the world, with attendees from China, Israel, Latin America and several European countries.
 
Hosted March 10 through 12, the event featured machine demos, tours of the 1,000,000-square-foot facility, and vendor booths with representatives from various software, workholding and tooling manufacturers. Additionally, Stewart-Haas Racing displayed two racecars, including the No. 14 Chevrolet that Tony Stewart drove to a 2nd-place finish at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
 
Among the 20 machines on display, four were introduced this year. Two of those models, the large-capacity ST-40 and ST-40L turning centers, debuted at the show. Also on-hand wer the rest of the company’s new-generation ST and DS turning centers, including dual-spindle and Y-axis models, as well as the DT-1 drill/tap center, a variety of new-generation VMCs and a pair of horizontals. The company also displayed a variety of rotary products, including its new HRT160SS high speed rotary table.
 
The company says HaasTec 2011 was marked the first time in nearly a decade that it has hosted such an expansive event, and by all accounts it was a success.
