Mazak Optonics Corporation’s STX Mark III RTC is designed to help job shops differentiate and diversify the services they provide. Users can cut both thick and thin sheets, tubes, pipes, cubic components, taps and chamfers on a single machine. A rotary table is standard for cutting round pipe with a maximum diameter of 14.76" and square tubes ranging to 6". The 16.14" Z travel enables users to cut pre-formed parts and other 3D shapes requiring greater cut height.
The machine is available in 2,500- or 4,000-W (0.87" or 1" MS) configurations and accepts sheet or flat material measuring as much as 5 × 10 ft. It can be delivered with a range of automated material handling systems, including load/unload cells and flexible manufacturing systems.
The machine utilizes features developed for the company’s Hyper series machines, including intelligent setup functions for automated nozzle spatter removal, a three-station nozzle changer, and focal-point measurement and adjustment capability. These features are components of the company’s Opti-Pod, which is designed to minimize system setup time and improve extended unattended operation while maintaining optimized machining conditions. The machine also incorporates a new servo focus torch. The servo-driven system reduces piercing time and increases productivity, the company says. Additional technology includes a high-accuracy auto-centering lens and nozzle design that further reduces setup time and increases productivity, as well as pierce, plasma and burn sensing to ensure consistent performance over a range of materials.
