The Dropmill ballnose end mill performs semi-finishing and finishing applications at high feed rates. Its design provides a fully effective cutter--two cutting edges--even with small depths of cut, the company says.
The new BCR D.. inserts can withstand the high forces resulting from the high feed, according to the company. They are produced with a protrusion on the bottom that mounts in a mating slot in the pocket. The ability to maintain the high precision of the cutting edge location results from this firm clamping, which relieves most of the stresses normally exerted on the clamping screw.
This new insert has a straight edge tangent to the round corner. It enables machining of a shoulder with a round corner.
