Mastercam 2019 Lathe is designed to enable users to accept and program any CAD file for dynamic roughing and precision finishing. This version includes Tool Designer, Mill-Turn environments and Multiple Plunge features.
With Mastercam 2019 Lathe’s Tool Designer—a function panel with tab-style navigation that provides 3D tool support and a structured workflow—users can build tools from 3D STEP models. Users can also define tools, assign them to operations and view them when running Classic Backplot and Mastercam Simulator.
The software provides users with the ability to run select Mill-Turn machine environments. These environments support automated job setup and part transfer, full machine simulation and simplified programming of C/Y-axis tool paths.
The Lathe Groove tool path incorporates a Multiple Plunge option to rough out a groove with rib cuts while limiting tool deflection. Consistent tool pressure can result in better chip control, and more even tool wear, the company says. Multiple Plunge is said to enable rib machining with a more aggressive feed rate than the initial plunges.
Mastercam 2019 Lathe also offers improved support for cross-centerline turning, support for Swiss-type machines (Swiss-type lathe users with active Lathe and Mill or Mill 3D licenses can use familiar Lathe and Mill toolpaths), and full integration of the PrimeTurning tool path (including 3D tool libraries and the introduction of 3D tool support).
