Ingersoll offers its TBTA-H series drill heads in diameters ranging from 0.984" to 2.559" (25 to 65 mm). The fixed-pocket, indexable BTA drill heads are said to provide higher accuracy, improved straightness, better surface finish and longer tool life compared to other drill heads. An H-class peripheral ground insert mounted on the outboard station provides tighter hole variation and IT10 accuracy with 0.0028" total tolerance, as well as higher speed and feed capabilities, the company says. The wider chip mouth maximizes chip evacuation clearance, enabling smooth delivery of coolant to the cutting edge for and cooling of the guide pads.
