Extensible CAD Technologies’ InspectionXpert for CATIA includes an improved user interface and enhanced support for AS9102. The software automates the ballooning of both 2D drawings and 3D models in CATIA as well as the automatic creation of quality inspection forms, such as first-article inspection, in-process inspection, AS9102 and PPAP for quality control inspections. Enhancements make the software suitable for aerospace, automotive, defense, oil and gas and contract manufacturing applications.
Other features include single-window integration for a better user experience; better control over the order and placement of balloons in the CATIA drawing or model; support for AS9102 Forms 1, 2 and 3; support for mapping CATIA user parameters to the user’s inspection report form; and support for CATIA V5 R18, R19 and R20. Inspection project data can be saved for easy updates to inspection projects when drawing or model data changes, the company says. Also, dimensions that are entered as notes can be extracted. The software can also publish directly to Net-Inspect.
The product line is said to eliminate the manual ballooning of inspection drawings and manual creation of inspection sheets for first article and in-process inspections. The software integrates with CAD programs including SolidWorks, Solid Edge, CATIA, AutoCAD and Pro/Engineer. InspectionXpert First Article works with PDF and TIFF file formats.
