Newall Electronics offers its DP900 digital readout (DRO) for manual lathe and milling machine application. Said to be the company’s most powerful DRO to date, it offers a graphical LCD-based display available in two, three or four axes and a host of advanced features aimed to increase machine tool efficiency. Interactive features include graphical dynamic tool position that allows observation of tool movement on the DRO in real-time. Geometric calculation permits operators to establish datum points or take inspection reading while the part is still on the machine. These readings—angle; skew; step; slot; and arc; along with circle OD, ID and center—can be captured with or without the use of the optional touch probe.
The DRO is centered on a blue-on-white LCD, a die cast chassis and the “feather touch” capacitive touch-sense technology keypad. Other standard features include linear and segmented error compensation; bolt-hole circle; arc contouring; grid array; vectoring; tapering; tool offsets; and axis preset. The unit can be configured for both turning and milling applications.
