Leaders-In background

The company extends the Helitronic line of CNC cutter grinders with the Micro. The Micro uses linear motors to achieve faster speeds and better surface finishes than machines with conventional ball or lead screws, the company says. The machine grinds tools from 0.004" to 0.5" (0.1 mm to 12.7 mm) in diameter. The integrated robot performs fast automatic part changes and extends running time for lights-out operation. The machine’s X axis automatically moves the tool to center during a grind, thereby achieving better accuracy on corner radii and ballnose forms even on small tools, the company says. The machine also has a three-spindle grinding head that can accommodate as many as nine wheels. The machine’s D axis positions the wheel to grind clearance angles with the same point on the wheel throughout the grind.
