The You Ji VTL-1200ATC+C vertical turning lathe, distributed by Absolute Machine Tools, features a 49" table and 63" swing with a full C axis and live milling for large workpieces. The heavy-duty machine features a rigid vertical column and a heavily-ribbed Meehanite base for reduced thermal distortion and greater vibration damping. The machine is customizable and suitable for industries such as aerospace, oil and energy, the company says.
The X and Z axes have a boxway design with Turcite B applied to mating surfaces. The ways are completely enclosed, and a forced lubrication system ensures high precision. The Z axis is a large, 9" square ram made from cast steel that is rigid even when extended to the full 35.4". The class-3 ballscrews are driven directly by the servomotors, eliminating belts or gears for greater precision.
Additional features include a 24" OD and 18" ID Timken cross roller bearing, a 60-hp FANUC high-torque spindle motor coupled with a two-speed ZF gearbox, an automatically engaged/disengaged worm gear with a separate servo motor and gearbox, a 2,400-rpm live milling spindle, and a 16-tool automatic toolchanger.
