Version 8.5 (Firebird) of SMe Software’s SMARTer Manager manufacturing management software features a switch from Borland’s Interbase database engine to the Firebird SQL database. This enhances stability and optimizes speed when accessing large databases over a network, the company says. A single Firebird server can handle multiple individual databases, each with multiple client connections.
New additions include enhancements to the bill of materials module, with a new tool that allows users to take their unlimited bill of materials from any engineering software and synchronize it into SMARTer Manager, eliminating manual data entry. Another enhancement is the ability to print the item tree as it appears in the bill of materials.
