Mazak Optonics’ modular automation systems are designed to increase laser-cutting capacity without requiring additional skilled manpower. The systems include load/unload cells, flexible automation, automated parts sorting and factory automation. Standard material thickness for the systems is 1", and they can incorporate a variety of loading tables.
 
To increase scheduling flexibility or modify laser-cutting jobs, the modular systems feature line controller functions that include cutting-schedule implementation, raw material inventory management and material transfer, and cutting program transfer from virtually anywhere on the system network. The controller also coordinates material and program delivery, even in multiple-machine environments, and facilitates loading and unloading of individual machines. The line controller provides production data, reduces stand-by time and eliminates system stops caused by checks on cutting conditions prior to running programs. A scheduling function is designed to optimize machine utilization and reduce processing times.
 
The flexible manufacturing systems and load/unload cells are expandable to accommodate as many as four machines for automated production. Parts stockers for sheets and plates are available in 10- and 20-shelf configurations, with as many as 40 shelves possible. Parts stockers and unload tables are also available.
