According to manufacturer Mazak, the Integrex i-150 provides enhanced, “done-in-one” processing for small, accurate and complex parts. With its compact footprint, the center is suited for medical appliance manufacturers and high-precision component machining involving round, square or angular features. Also, simultaneous five-axis surfacing is possible with minimum operator intervention, the company says. The center features a horizontal, 15-hp main spindle for turning and a C-axis control with a 6" through-hole chuck. Bar capacity is 2.56". Machining center capability is provided through an integral 10-hp, 12,000-rpm milling spindle (optional 20,000 rpm) mounted on the vertical, rotating B axis. The B axis features the company’s roller cam, a non-coupling design and an absolute feedback scale for high-accuracy positioning and five-axis contouring through a -10-degree to +190-degree range. Y-axis travel is ±3.94" (±100 mm), and rapid feed rate of 1,576 ipm in the X, Y and Z linear axes improves throughput. Other features include a work handling device that acts both as an NC tailstock and a workholding vise. The device can pick the part from the spindle, index it to 45 degrees or 90 degrees for angled or backside operations and unload finished parts onto a conveyor. The system provides many operations in one setup, consistent accuracy and the opportunity for unattended operations over long periods, the company says.
