Software Gives Offline Programming “Real” Robot Feel
Motoman’s enhanced graphics simulator, MotoSim EG, is available with virtual robot controller (VRC) capability, which is said to provide accurate 3D simulation of robot cells. With VRC, the software operates and displays the actual programming pendant interface for the NX100 controller. The interface display is the same whether a programmer uses a teach pendant on the controller or uses the software on a PC.

In addition, to optimize robot and equipment placement, the simulation software can perform collision detection, reach modeling and cycle calculations. It also provides accurate offline programming of complex systems, the company says. The VRC supports virtually all INFORM (robot language) programming instructions and features complete simulation of the controller software in the PC environment, including system configuration functions and condition file editing.
The software can simulate independent and coordinated motion functions as well as twin synchronous functions that enhance the interaction between the robots and external motion devices. It fully supports actuator-driven SIA-series and dual-arm SDA-series robots with as many as 15 axes of motion.
According to the company, the software increases the “real” robot experience while programming offline on a computer. Offline programming allows manufacturers to keep their actual robot systems running while programming new parts.
