Turn And Mill In One Setup

The multi-tasking Nakamura-Tome Super NTJ turning center completes multi-face angular machining and contour milling in a single setup, eliminating the need to refixture the part on another machine to perform secondary operations. Features include a 5,000-rpm, 20-hp left-side spindle; a 5,000-rpm, 15-hp right-side spindle and a dodecagonal 24-station lower turret for both left and right spindles.

The B-axis turret is capable of angular positioning to ±91 degrees from the horizontal, eliminating the need for angular workholders. The turret's direct drive provides high rigidity for milling, while the B-axis rotates at 180 degrees per second. Upper and lower turrets have maximum rotating tool speeds of 6,000 rpm, and each has a capacity of 24 tools for turning or 12 tools for milling. Rapid traverses and chip-to-chip tool change times of 0.85 seconds minimize cycle times.

The machine can be programmed with Luck-Bei II software. Tool offset values can be converted with a single G-code regardless of B-axis angle, and 3D rectangular coordinate conversion can be carried out even on an inclined plane. CNC solid animation, M-code list display and excess load detection software are also standard. Standard NT Work Navigator (torque type) software reduces the need for positioning jigs and fixtures.
