The enhanced Zeiss DuraMax HTG (high temperature and gradients) coordinate measuring machine is now more insensitive to mechanical vibrations and temperature fluctuations, making it suitable for the production environment at ambient temperatures ranging from 59° to 104°F (15° to 40°C). Under these conditions, the machine delivers measurement accuracy down to 3.2 microns. In addition to increasing the maximum temperature range, this model also lifts the maximum permissible fluctuations per hour and per day: The machine is said to operate effectively under temperature changes of 50 percent per hour and 100 percent per day without compromising the measurement quality. This high precision was made possible even at these temperatures and fluctuations by adding components such as a hood to insulate the Z axis and an insulated, reflective stainless steel cover.
