Romi’s D 1000AP DD is a 40" × 24" vertical milling center designed to combine conventional and high-speed milling applications for die/mold, aerospace, agricultural, energy and other industries. According to the company, the strong machine structure, combined with its 15,000-rpm, 25-hp spindle, enables higher cutting speeds and depths than standard VMCs.
The control package uses a Siemens 828D featuring advanced look-ahead and fast processing time. These features, together with graphic operator support functionality, offer effective machining advantages for feed rates as high as 1,575 ipm. Several Romi-specific software and hardware options can provide a mix of standard G-code and conversational programming. The control supports features like 3D and real-time simulation.
The VMC offers residual material removal and a die/mold package for smaller machine shops as well as other options including the Romi fourth axis, part probing and robot integration.
