Available from Yama Seiki, the Awea BM-2500 vertical machining center is equipped with a 6,000-rpm, 50-taper gear spindle powered by a FANUC α22i 35-hp AC spindle motor. The two-speed gearhead delivers 662 Nm at 375 rpm for low-speed, heavy-duty cutting applications.

X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measure 98.4" × 39.3" × 39.5", and rapid traverse rates are 590 ipm on the X and Y axes and 472 ipm on the Z axes. All axes are driven by FANUC AC servomotors for performance and safety. The VMC also features boxways on all axes, a chip conveyor, enclosed splash guard, spindle oil chiller and oil skimmer.

The automatic swing-arm-type toolchanger can store 30 tools, and 40-, 50- and 60-tool swing-arm chain-type toolchangers are also available. Tool-change time is 3 sec., while chip-to-chip time is 7 sec. The automatic toolchanger is said to enable easy access to toolholders for setup and protect the tool shanks from dirt, chips and coolant.
