SafeHold MPL series permanent lifting magnets from Eriez enable users to lift, move and position materials without manually releasing the magnet or using slings, hooks or cables. The magnets are designed for loading and unloading steel sheets from burning tables or anywhere that operator access is limited. They operate on 115 VAC power and turn on and off. If the power supply is interrupted, the magnets remain in their current position and cannot be operated until power is restored, protecting workers from accidental dropped loads.
The magnets are suitable for handling both flat and round materials, especially semi-finished products with flat surfaces such as machine parts, press molds for forming and steel plates. They can also be used to load round bars into lathes. Maximum lifting capacity is 4,500 lbs (2,041 kg) for a flat steel plate and 3,000 lbs (1,363 kg) for a round-surface product, with a 2:1 safety factor.
