Koma Introduces Presetters and Software for Tool Management
The company is presenting a new line of tool presetters, which includes an entry-level benchtop unit as well as more advanced models, and tool management software at IMTS 2018.

Koma Precision is introducing three tool presetters, along with new tool management software, at its booth. The line of presetters includes an entry-level bench top unit up to semi-automatic measuring machines. The tool management software is designed to be a cost-effective solution that helps manufacturers “close the loop.”
The benchtop unit features a measuring range of 600 mm in height and 400 mm in diameter. An HD screen with a user-friendly interface enables operators of all skill levels to set tooling. The large screen shows all icons while keeping the tool profile in view. It can communicate with CNC machines, sending tool offsets directly to tooling tables. The unit uses interchangeable spindle pots to adapt to various tooling types, guaranteeing spindle concentricity and accuracy.
The line also features more advanced models with larger tool capacity and the ability to capture data about the cutting tools. An ergonomic design enables users to easily measure larger tools, and a 22-inch HD screen eases inspection. Tool wear and geometric features can be exported in a variety of formats. Direct communication with CNC controls is available either over a local area network or via the company’s tool management software.
The tool management software uses a series of barcodes to transfer data to and from CNC controls. Shops can create customized formats to transfer a variety of information between the presetter and CNC control.
