Superior Tool Service (STS), a manufacturer of carbide and high speed steel cutting tools, has launched two divisions: an in-house physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating division called STS Coatings, and an industrial supply division called STS Supply.
STS Coatings offers a variety of PVD coating options. The division has a non-aqueous cleaning line. Its portfolio of coatings includes TiN, TiCN, ALTiN Nano, ALTiN CR, MpC (Alcron), MpC (AuRoRa), ZRN -Micral ALU and Micral TeToN. To offer PVD technology, the company invested $2.2 million in equipment and has hired two additional employees. STS Coatings also expects to hire more personnel later in 2018.
“By investing in PVD coating and keeping the total manufacturing process under one roof, STS will significantly reduce downtime for our customers,” says President and Owner Clint Whitney.
STS Supply offers an industrial supply product portfolio with reportedly millions of products available through a network of hundreds of suppliers. The company began providing industrial supply reseller services in 2014. The new division aims to reduce and consolidate the number of supplier relationships needed for the company’s customers, saving time and money. The company has hired a business development manager, Damon Cauthon, along with two additional employees for the new division.
“Industrial supply has been something we’ve done for a few years now,” Mr. Whitney says. “In the last year or two, we’ve seen a need to invest more in order to better serve our customers.”
