Designed for machine tool builders and end users, Siemens’ Virtual Production Service provides simulation and analysis of machining process without interrupting production. The service subjects the process chain to a simulative analysis from the CAD/CAM system to the workpiece surface.Ìý With the exception of the NC program, analysis is performed on the computer instead of repeated testing on the actual machine.
Ìý
The process involves three steps: analysis of data quality as provided by the part program; execution of the part program by the NC, where set-point positions on the NC are evaluated and velocity can be optimized and controlled; and production simulation based on characteristic features of position-controlled drives, including machine dynamics. According to the company, the service reduces machining times, improves surface finish and shortens start-up times for new workpieces.
