Third Wave Systems has releases version 5.6 of its AdvantEdge Production Module, a process-analysis CAE software that integrates workpiece material properties, CAD/CAM inputs and machine dynamics to map forces, temperatures and more. By displaying results visually, the module allows users to better understand the machining process to avoid potential problems and indentify opportunities for improvement.
Enhanced features include sub-sequence optimization for better control and analysis of long cut sequences, differential pitch tool geometry definition, variable helix/roughing end mill tool geometry definition and standard barstock and tubestock workpiece definition.
Benefits of the software include reduced cycle times, maximized machine utilization and reduced tool breakage, the company says.
