Surfware has announced that the beta version of SURFCAM Velocity 4 is available to SURFCAM Beta users. Enhancements include four- and five-axis functionality giving users more control over tool motion.

The new and enhanced features will include three-axis high-speed machining. New finish strategies feature smooth, fluid tool paths and optimized retracts that eliminate abrupt changes in directions allowing maximum speeds and feeds and reduced cycle time. Processing speed has been increased from the previous version. Other implemented high speed machining operations include rest machining, offset pencil cut and 3D offset.

Four- and five-axis machining enhancements will feature newly implemented gouge avoidance strategies allowing users to specify as many as four separate check surface groups. Individual gouge avoidance strategies can be applied to each successive group. This version also includes new retract styles and enhanced gap handling. The added functionality enables total control of the tool motion during any event of the cutting process, the company says.
