Sumitomo's Mesi chipbreaker for Swiss and medical part machining features a high-precision cutting edge and is available in CCGT, DCGT and VCGT geometries. The chipbreaker produces a 2 to 6 mm depth of cut (DOC) for bar feeder machines. A wavy cutting edge is designed to provide better chip control when copying, and dimples reduce cutting temperature, Sumitomo says. The Mesi is featured in the AC500U series and AC600M series for cutting exotics and stainless steels.
