Designed for high-performance applications, the Fagor 8070 ETX CNC is based on an industrial-hardened Windows operating system running on an XP-embedded platform. A host of online software configurations can be integrated for a true open-architecture system. In addition, the control is built with a solid state disk for reliable operation in harsh industrial environments. The operating system includes the file-based write filter (FBWF) feature, which protects against viruses, hard shutdowns and un-directed software installations.
The system is designed for use with digital servo systems; high speed motors; and both linear and rotary, high-accuracy feedback systems. In addition, the CNC offers true five-axis machining compensation as a standard feature.
The CNC is designed to increase productivity while maintaining part finish accuracy. According to the company, optimizing block processing time and analyzing the tool path in advance with high speed block look-ahead results in quality part finish. Toolpath transition is smooth because the predictive control feature applies efficient acceleration control for each machining operation, the company says.
Splines and polynomial transitions, as well as the interpretation of the NURB format used by CAD/CAM programs, allow the control to process CAD/CAM-generated programs. This is said to help the system achieve high feed rates while maintaining accuracy and decreasing execution time.
The control features a conversational programming editor for canned cycles and an intelligent profile editor, which is similar to an integrated Mini CAD, to create profiles without the need for complex calculations.Â
