Chevalier’s FBL-360B MC CNC lathe with programmable tailstock features a ribbed Meehanite cast iron mono-block casting and high rigidity box way to resist deflection and vibration during heavy machining. Suitable for mixed-volume, short-run or dedicated high-volume applications, the lathe is designed for ease of access and simplified maintenance.
The lathe’s 45-degree slant-bed lathe includes a 15" three-jaw chuck and accommodates maximum swing and turning diameter of 22.4" with maximum turning length ranging to 80". The machine accommodates bars ranging to 4.5" in diameter at speeds ranging to 2,500 rpm. X- and Z-axis travels measure 12.6" to 32.2", and rapid traverse rates range to 708 ipm. X- and Z-axis positioning accuracy is ±0.0002" and repeatability is ±0.0001".
The lathe is equipped with a 35-hp AC digital spindle motor with a two-speed gearbox. A 50-hp motor is available as an option. The spindle produces as much as 1,901 foot-pounds of torque at lower rpm and features a 5.3 spindle bore. A Sauter 12-station BMT 65 live turret enables smooth, fast indexing, while the 15-hp live motor provides torque to accomplish most milling work, the company says. The machine is controlled by a FANUC 0i0TD with 10.4" LCD color screen and conversational Manual Guide i. Available accessories include an automatic toolsetter system, programmable tailstock with automatic positioning capability and a programmable quill that runs in/out sequence.
