Siemens Energy & Automation introduces its SINUMERIK solution line CNC system platform. The line comprises the panel-based 802D sl, the PC-based 840Di sl and the 840D sl, available in both panel and PC-based versions.
The network-centric architecture of this line can be effectively combined with SINAMICS, the company’s drive technology, to design stand-alone as well as plant-wide automation solutions. Additionally, PROFINET and PROFIBUS protocols are used for machine tool communication. Machines can easily be networked through the corresponding interfaces on the operator panel and the CNC system, the company says.
This line offers open system architecture (HMI/NC kernel), advanced communication protocols, a space-saving modular design, scalable hardware and numerous software options. This flexible approach allows the design of control and operating concepts to be tailored to the requirements of individual technologies and applications.
“Thin-client technology” offers flexible concepts for the operator. These maintenance-free operator panels work without a hard disk, battery or fan. The drive’s communications system, Drive-CLiQ, provides fast recognition of drives and motors via the electronic type plate and improved diagnostics.
This product line is fully compatible with the company’s existing CNC product family.
