Big Kaiser’s digital boring head, the EWD Evo, is designed to simplify operation, the company says. The boring head synchs with the company’s smartphone and tablet app, which was developed to enhance user friendliness while assembling and running Big Kaiser boring tools. Users can read the cutting diameter change with the app to help determine optimal cutting parameters from tool assemblies. The app logs historical adjustments for all tools synched with it, and is designed for shops joining the smart manufacturing movement.
Big Kaiser’s parent company, Big Daishowa Seiki, will feature its expanded line of HSK-E25 toolholders, including the company’s high-precision, low-runout hydraulic chucks. The line is available in 3-, 4- and 6-mm clamping diameters, with 1-micron runout at the nose. The toolholders are designed for precision-finish milling work on high-speed spindles for machines with small work envelopes.
