Alibre’s Design Xpress TM version 11 is available as a free download. The 3D mechanical CAD program is based on the company’s commercial CAD products which include Alibre Design, Alibre Design Professional and Alibre Design Expert. For the first 30 days, the combination evaluation and learning tool functions as a free upgrade to the Professional version. After 30 days, it reverts to the limited feature, free edition. This version of the CAD program includes 2D drawing speed enhancements and feature improvements. Additionally, the code base has been migrated to the .NET platform, which the company says results in easier installation, better graphics-device driver support and greater stability.
All versions of the company’s CAD products include SolidWorks file compatibility enabling customers to directly read native SolidWorks files.
