Horn’s 25A face grooving system includes a toolholder with square shanks, cassettes and round shanks with internal coolant to boost chip flow. The cassettes are designed for the K220 standard cassette interface and are compatible with all applicable basic holders from Horn. The system enables face grooving from 15 mm in diameter and larger, and width of groove ranging to 4.0 mm. With this expanded cutting width, the system is capable of achieving grooving depths ranging to 20 mm.
Both one- and two-edged straight-cutting or full-radius inserts are available in the additional cutting widths. The geometric shape also promotes reliable chip flow even with significant slot depths, the company says. Made of TH35-grade carbide, the cutting inserts feature a neutral design for use in either left- or right-hand toolholders. Holders are available in diameter increments of 20 to 25 mm, 25 to 30 mm, 30 to 40 mm and 40 to 50 mm for different external slot diameters.
