Okuma America has released the five-axis Genos M460V-5AX vertical machining center, combining full five-axis simultaneous control with rigid, cast iron, double-column construction and a high-speed spindle. These features enable this CNC machine to cut a variety of complex parts and exotic metals with speed and precision.
The spindle motor design produces less vibration and power loss at the tool tip to improve surface finishes. Precision ballscrews generate smooth linear guide movement to all three axes, enabling tight control of the machining process. The sturdy trunnion uses a hypoid gear drive to increase rigidity, accuracy and table rotation speed.
The system is designed to be thermally stable to compensate for ambient temperatures around the machine center. These features also compensate for heat generated during machining, increasing accuracy.
The open architecture machine control is PC-based and enables customization for optimizing performance. The five-axis auto-tuning system maintains precise machining and easily fine tunes the machine by measuring geometric errors and automatically adjusting as needed.
