Vollmer’s VGrind 360 grinds carbide tools ranging to a diameter of 100 mm. The machine has two vertical spindles to enable multi-level machining. Manufacturers can quickly and precisely produce large numbers of milling cutters, drills or reamers with blanks made from either solid carbide or high speed steel (HSS). Automated features such as the eight-wheel pack changer, wheel compensation and a free-arm robot enable continuous, unsupervised machining.
The machine is available with either two vertical spindles for grinding wheel packages or with one grinding wheel spindle and one high-frequency spindle plus an automatic toolchanger. The high-frequency spindle allows the grinding of special pocket seats for polycrystalline diamond (PCD) plates. The HC 4 compact machine includes a chain magazine with 39 spaces for standardized HSK 63-A hollow-shank tapers or as many as 158 shank workpieces.
With five CNC axes, the Numrotoplus-controlled grinder is designed for enhanced interpolation with short travel linear-axis and swivel distances. Optional features include a roughing unit and tool magazine with eight grinding wheel packages.
