The MultiTap-Form from Emuge is designed to produce threads within 2B and 3B classes of fit in a range of materials. The tap features a geometric design and is constructed of TiN-coated high speed steel (HSS-E) to increase tool life and versatility.
The tap displaces material to form threads rather than cutting threads to improve surface quality, increase strength and reduce the risk of poor threads due to axial miscutting. Lubrication grooves enable coolant flow-to-form action for holes requiring long thread length. The chamfer lead of 1.5 to 2 pitch is well suited for bottom tapping, Emuge says.
The taps are constructed with DIN-length shanks designed for extra reach. Tap sizes include a range for UNC or UNF threads, from #4-40 to 3/8-24" sizes, to metric sizes from M4 × 0.7 to M10 × 1.5.
