Precision Dormer has expanded its toolholder range with HydroGrip and SynchroFlex high performance toolholders.
Available in conventional and pencil types, HydroGrip hydraulic toolholders are said to be suitable for virtually all drilling and reaming operations, as well as milling operations where space is unlimited. The toolholders will accommodate virtually any type of cylindrical tool shank.
Clamping is performed via a screw and piston that compress a reservoir of hydraulic pressurizing substance. This generates an even pressure on the clamping membrane and the shank of the tool, leading to better hole quality and low runout of less than 6µm at 3× D. It also lengthens tool life.
The company says the toolholder offers quick and easy tool change compared to mechanical chucks, with a tightening torque of 6 Nm and only one torque key size for tightening all dimensions.
SynchroFlex tap holders are said to ensure a precisely defined minimum compensation to enable users to maximize CNC machine performance. Flexure, a precisely manufactured micro-compensator, cushions the differences between the machine’s feed rate and the actual pitch of a tap.
Any discrepancy increases the required thrust and torque, reducing tap life and thread quality proportionally. By compensating for these minimal differences, both axially and radially, the tap holders promote predictable cutting behavior throughout the entire life of the tool as well as greater accuracy of depth control, the company says.
The fully compensated tap feature improved thread quality, less friction and less wear—all of which will increase tool life.
