Iscar has expanded its Helido Upfeed milling insert line to include diameters ranging from 1″ to 5″. The trigon-shaped, double-sided inserts offer six cutting edges and are designed for a 17-degree lead angle. This creates a cutting geometry that directs forces axially for more stability at high feed rates.
The inserts can accommodate chip loads of as much as 0.060″ per tooth. The inserts feature Sumo Tec coating, which reduces heat, friction and cutting forces and extends insert life by as much as 35 percent, the company says. A dovetail seat design ensures secure clamping. Integral shank end mills, tools with FlexFit threaded connections and face mills all accommodate the insert line. All of the tools can handle facing, ramping and plunging helical interpolation.
