Kyocera SGS Precision Tools has expanded the Z-Carb HPR series of high-performance end mills for titanium and stainless steel. The expansion includes 320 tools in fractional diameters ranging from 1/8" to 1" and in metric diameters ranging from 6 to 25 mm. The five-flute roughing end mills are said to achieve high metal removal rates while still providing a smooth surface finish. The specialized five-flute design is engineered for increased productivity over three- and four-flute end mills.
Fifty-nine of the expanded items are coated with Ti-Namite-M (TM) and feature new corner radius options. The TM coating promotes higher removal rates in difficult-to-machine materials like titanium, according to the company. Another contingent of the expanded items are coated with Ti-Namite-A (TA), which improves removal rates in materials like stainless steel.
