The Milltronics VM3224 linear-way vertical machining center offers increased machining accuracy with 38-mm ballscrews stretched and anchored with triplex bearings. The axis runs faster and smoother with decreased thermal expansion as a result, the company says. The machine’s casting is designed to optimize rigidity, cutting performance and material removal.
 
With a 38" × 24" table, the VMC offers travels measuring 32" × 24" × 26". The enclosure features removable side doors for accessibility through full saddle travel to accommodate long parts. The machine is equipped with a standard 18/12 Big Plus in-line or belted 10,000-rpm spindle and can achieve a 500 ipm (12.5 m/min.) cutting feed rate and a 1,600 ipm (40 m/min.) rapid feed rate.
 
Features include the Milltronics 8200 CNC; linear roller ways; a dual-arm, 24-pocket toolchanger; six-spigot flood coolant; 180-gallon coolant capacity; automatic grease lubrication; and a chip auger. The enclosure features a single, integrated auger designed to improve coolant and chip control. The VMC is factory-ready for 1,000-psi through-spindle coolant and fourth-axis interface. Options include a 15,000-rpm spindle, enclosure washdown, a mist-collection system, probes and toolsetters.
