Makino’s U6 H.E.A.T. Extreme wire EDM is designed to increase machining rates while maintaining traditional wire consumption. The machine features 0.016" coated wire technology said to increase rough machining rates by as much as 300% over traditional 0.010" brass wire while providing consumption rates of 0.6 to 0.7 lbs/hour. The U6 H.E.A.T. Extreme uses Topas H.E.A.T. coated wire from Bedra, while settings for two-pass machining have enable the machine to deliver additional productivity.
The machine also features Makino’s HyperDrive Extreme wire control system to improve machining speed and performance. It applies an AC motor tensioning system that expands the range and stability of wire tension, resulting in a reliable threading system for the 0.016" wire. The wire threading system provides jet and jet-less threading modes and can rethread the wire in the gap at a break point when operating with traditional wire sizes.
A machining conditions library has been developed to provide speed, accuracy, surface finish and low wire consumption for both sealed and poor-flush applications. The machine uses dual digital flushing pumps that deliver higher flushing pressure and volume to reduce rough-cut cycle time.
The Hyper-i control delivers a common interface to better aid operators. The HyperConnect IIoT network connectivity function enables remote machine monitoring and interconnectivity. Dual 24" Hyper-i screens allow operators to display and access data or programs.
