Weingärtner Maschinenbau supplies a comprehensive and flexible manufacturing system consisting of its Pick Up and Multi Product Machining Centers (MPMC) series and Finish CNC polishing machine for the production of feed/extruder screws and barrels. The system includes all necessary machining processes required to finish components from blank to finished part. Three different sizes of MPMC and four sizes of Pick Up machines are offered.
The Pick Up machine series produces small to large screws via whirling and milling operations. The series is built in a modular concept and can be used as a universal machine for whirling and/or milling, the company says. Machining heads for either cutting process are exchanged automatically. Alternatively, Pick Up machines can be applied as single purpose machines whirling or milling, depending upon customer needs. According to Weingärtner, the Pick Up machines are capable of producing feed/extruder screw geometries ranging from simple to complex and made from alloy steels as well as special tool steels with heat treatments and welded hard facings.
The MPMC machines provide all cutting capabilities including turning and milling to efficiently cut extrusion, injection molding, and blow molding screws and barrels consisting of difficult-to-machine hard-faced and hardened materials. Whirled and milled screws are completed on the Weingärtner automatic Finish CNC polishing machine.
