An additional grade has been added to the Walter Valenite Tiger-tec indexable milling  family. Along with the WKP35S grade, the company offers the WKP25S, a CVD-Al2O3-coated insert that permits increased feeds, speeds and metal removal, particularly in steel and casting applications. 
 
The milling/cutting grade is designed to increase process reliability through increased wear resistance, toughness and shock resistance. According to the company, it performs better than conventional tooling in the machining of tool steels with strengths greater than 1000 N/mm2 and when used in difficult conditions such as wet machining or machining materials with high tensile strength. It also can process hard-to-cut materials, such as gray cast iron or cast iron containing vermicular graphite, at average to high cutting speeds and average feed rates.
 
The milling grade is available for all tools in the company’s Xtra-tec range, including F4041 and F4042 face and shoulder mills; F4053, F4153 and F4253 side and face mills; and F4038, F4138, F4238 and F4338 porcupine cutters.
