LMT’s XChange modular tap features a solid carbide cutting head screwed onto a steel shank using a patented interface connection. This enables the head to be easily replaced when it becomes worn, the company says. The tap can cut grey cast iron at speeds as fast as 200 sfm. The tap features radial and axial through coolant and is available in M8 and M18 sizes. A multi-layer hard coating, Polaris, increases tool life.
