Pico Chemical Corporation offers chlorine-free, blue-colored cutting oil for difficult-to-machine stainless and titanium alloys. The chemistry of Picocut Code Blue is said to achieve accurate precision cutting, longer tool life and superior surface finishes in high speed machining centers without the environmental, cleaning and corrosion issues often associated with chlorinated paraffin, the company says.
The oil improves tool life, reduces smoke, is non-foaming, exhibits high oxidation resistance and is able to replace both older technology cutting oils and water-soluble fluids in medical and aerospace applications. The multi-functional oil lubricant is suited for operations such as milling, drilling, reaming, threading, broaching, grinding, stamping and drawing.
The oil is said to offer improved lubricity; extreme pressure, anti-weld performance; and anti-oxidation protection without the need for tank-side additives. It is clear in appearance, low misting and operator friendly with low odor properties, the company says. The oil is formulated for elastomer compatibility.
