Walter USA’s M2025 and M2026 octagonal finishing face mills are designed to deliver high surface quality on large cast iron components. The face mills are designed to produce completely flat surfaces necessary for optimum sealing on these workpieces. In addition, the mills’ high feed and cutting speed capabilities are said to reduce processing times. A design intended to ease handling reduces setup requirements, promoting further time and cost savings.
Each face mill is equipped with 16-edged octagonal peripheral inserts and three four-edged wiper inserts. The basic shape of the wiper inserts is negative, while the cutting edge geometry is positive. Convex edge wiper inserts promote a high level of surface quality. All inserts are precision-ground, and the cutter bodies feature precision insert seats. Cutting edges can be changed rapidly thanks to the inserts’ wedge clamping. To ease setup, the tools need no adjustment of wiper cutting edges. The inserts are available in grades WAK15, WKP25S, WHH15.
