Pilot Precision Products is demonstrating its mini motorized slotter on a Tsugami M08 turning center with Y-axis. The slotter is available for purchase for use on Tsugami Swiss racks.
Available in 15-mm and 25-mm strokes, the machine can make CNC broaching more efficient on small turret lathes and Swiss lathes because of its ability to handle internal and external keyway, as well as spline profiles in what is said to be shortened cycle times. The mini motorized slotter also consolidates operations in one machine and can therefore eliminate the need for secondary broaching operations, according to the company. Applications include automotive, firearms, power transmission components, marine and defense.
Pilot says important features and benefits of the mini motorized slotter include:
- A six-sided ram design for maximum torsional rigidity for optimized finish and tool life
- Ability to shape holes into hex or squares beyond the limitations of rotary broaching
- Simple to maintain through lubrication
- Simple to rebuild (maintenance recommended after 1,000 broaching cycle hours)
- Rebuild kits available for bearings and seals can be sent back for maintenance at a cost-effective price.
