Makino says its iQ300 precision micromachining center incorporates the latest advances in machine and spindle design, thermal control and precision. The 45,000-rpm, HSK-E32 spindle features a core-cooling, under-race and jacket spindle temperature control system that virtually eliminates thermal growth and deflection for long hours of high speed machining, the company says.

Standard features include a 40-tool magazine; linear motor for the X, Y and Z axes; a 0.005-micron scale for sub-micron accuracy; and X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measuring 15.7" × 13.78", 7.87", respectively.

The Makino Professional 5 control with Super Geometric Intelligence (SGI.4) software ensures fast production rates, the company says. It is developed specifically for high-feed, tight-tolerance machining of 3D contoured shapes involving continuous, tiny blocks of NC data.
