Redesigned Grinding Machines Feature Improved Stability

United Grinding Group has redesigned the Walter Helitronic Power 400 grinding machine and Power Diamond 400 grinding and eroding machine. The two machines offer 35 percent more workpiece space with the capability to grind tools as long as 380 mm (14.96"). They also feature remodeled machine beds with enhanced rigidity for greater vibration damping for improved part surface finishes and precision. They include a worm drive for the C axis, an optional torque motor, and pneumatically-driven steady rests and tailstocks from the Helitronic Vision series. These features improve grinding and eroding operations by reducing leaks and improving heat management for greater cleanliness.
Unlike previous models, the machines can accommodate gantry-style loaders for as many as 500 tools or robot loaders for as many as 7,500 tools. Walter’s Robot Loader 25 is also available as an automation solution for tools weighing more than 25 kg (55.12 lbs).
The machines use Fine Pulse Technology to improve surface quality, cutting-edge toughness and process stability for PCD tools. Likewise, both machines use the Helitronic Tool Studio grinding and eroding software.
