Seco’s Minimaster Plus replaceable-tip milling system features a variety of inserts and shanks suited for milling applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and other difficult-to-machine materials. The milling system is designed for general machining in the aerospace, power generation, die and mold, automotive and medical industries.
A high-precision interface is located between the replaceable carbide insert and steel shank. The insert featues an internal thread and external taper, while the shank features an internal taper with a threaded center pin for added reliability, stability and minimized run-out. An axial stop on the shank is designed to increase repeatability and productivity by enabling end users to replace an insert without removing the tool from the machine spindle. The insert then repositions axially within 25 microns.
The shank is available in 24 versions. Square-shoulder and ballnose inserts have through-tool coolant on all two- and three-flute designs for improved cooling and efficient chip removal, the company says.
