Software Supports Material Removal Capabilities
ICAM Technologies Corporation’s Virtual Machine V18 supports material removal and verification capabilities for in-process stock collision and gouge detection within a simulated machining environment. Implementing the software with CAM-Post, the company’s NC post-processing development and deployment product, provides a graphical NC post-processing and machine simulation workbench to test programs during post-processing.

ICAM Technologies Corporation’s Virtual Machine V18 supports material removal and verification capabilities for in-process stock collision and gouge detection within a simulated machining environment. Implementing the software with CAM-Post, the company’s NC post-processing development and deployment product, provides a graphical NC post-processing and machine simulation workbench to test programs during post-processing. The programmer can maximize machine productivity while increasing manufacturing process efficiency, the company says.
The software’s material removal and verification feature is available for three- and five-axis machining applications. It allows NC programmers to compare the processed stock model to the original CAD/CAM design to identify, list and display surface gouges, excess material, inaccessible areas and rapid-motion collisions at any time during the post-processing and verification phase.
Other features include tool definition, functions to support probe simulation, improved collision detection definition and better control over “timeline” playback function. The software can compare differences between revisions of a model, and component grouping simplifies model definition and utilization. Also, head attachments can be defined, modeled and loaded/unloaded during simulation.
