Renishaw’s Carto 3.0 software for its XR20-W rotary axis calibrator enables users to quickly capture and analyze machine performance data from rotary axes. With the software, the company’s XM-60 multi-axis calibrator can now be used with the XR20-W rotary-axis calibrator.
Combining both machines’ capabilities, the software is said to reduce the calibration of a five-axis machine tool from several days to within half a day. It enables analysis of multiple error types over different time frames, building up a comprehensive overview of a machine’s performance, and automatically stores complete datasets for each machine tool within a single database. By independently comparing the different errors associated with each axis over different time frames, users can better plan preventive maintenance schedules. With the software suite, data is more visible, usable and actionable, making it the ideal platform for supporting “smart factories” incorporating Industry 4.0 strategies.
