Available from Methods Machine Tools, the Nakamura-Tome AS-200LMY-S subspindle multitasking turning center offers an upgraded long bed. The machine’s milling drive, high-speed C axis and 82-mm-stroke Y axis are said to ensure accurate, finished parts and avoid deburring, milling, drilling and repositioning fixtures. It offers a 7.5-hp milling motor on a 6,000-rpm, 12-station turret, providing 24-tool capacity. Subspindle speed is approximately 6,000 rpm and distance between spindle noses measures 31.50 inches (800 mm). The turning tool is 1.0" (25 mm) and the inside boring shank is 1.25" (32 mm). Maximum turning diameter is 13.39" (340 mm) and maximum turning length is 22.44" (570 mm). The Y axis enables turning, drilling and milling off-center with full power.
The multitasking center is equipped with a 15" high-resolution color LCD panel and FANUC 0iTD controller, providing fast processing speeds and 1 MB of program storage. The machine also features the NT Nurse II System, an all-in-one software package, as well as the NT Work Navigator, capable of recognizing the coordinates of machine parts with non-round shapes such as those in forgings and castings, and eliminating the need for positioning fixtures and clamping devices. An “airbag” safety feature reduces the impact and force of machine collisions. Should a crash occur, the servomotor-feeding direction is reversed and the machine stops in EMG mode within 8 msec.
